| 英文描述 | Sarcoptic mange is a common disease in dogs but extremely rare in cats. This is an intensely pruritic disease caused by the mite SARCOPTES SCABIEI var. CANIS. The most common areas of involvement in dogs are the hock, elbows, periocular, muzzle, ear, ventral thorax, and base of the tail. Because mites burrow into the skin, they may be difficult to find on skin scrapes. The disease has zoonotic potential. Secondary pyoderma may disguise the underlying disease. Dx by clinical signs, response to treatment, and skin scrapes. |
